This project included the design of a major intersection on the campus of New Mexico Highlands University. The existing intersection has five intersecting roadways and had caused numerous traffic accidents in previous years. School officials commissioned the project to address safety issues for both vehicular traffic and pedestrian traffic at the intersection. The project included a center island with colored and patterned concrete to create a divider that would organize traffic patterns through the intersection. Substantial striping and signage was incorporated into the project to address the turning movements of vehicles and pedestrian safety.
